Inspiration

The reason I did a Hayley Williams digital portrait was because she has always been a big inspiration for me. I started listening to her music when I was a teenager and her distinct style and personality always stood out. I wanted to create a piece that highlighted her natural beauty without over completing it.

How I made the Hayley Williams Digital Portrait

To make the final design, I used a picture of Hayley as reference and redrew the image in Adobe Illustrator using a Wacom drawing tablet. I drew each stripe on her top individually to ensure I got the creases in her clothes correct. Normally I would make a pattern into a swatch but in this case, it was more accurate to hand draw.

The one thing I have noticed is that many artists that use Adobe Illustrator to create vector portraits often use the pen tool. I quite like to use the paint brush instead because it seems more natural.

Likes & dislikes

I like the overall style of it, even with the lack of shading it doesn’t look flat. The hair colour is maybe something I would change but overall I am happy with the end result.
